This gluten free garlic and coriander naan bread recipe calls for a bit of time but it is worth it.

These Naan breads can be made up ahead of time and warmed up in the microwave.


  • 350g gluten free plain flour.
  • 1 tsp xanthan gum.
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cream of tartar.
  • 18g of sugar.
  • 7g instant yeast.
  • 1 tbsp garlic granules.
  • 75g plain yoghurt / dairy free version.
  • 42g butter / margarine / dairy free version melted and cooled down.
  • 1 medium egg and one egg white.
  • 50 ml warm water.
  • Chopped coriander.
  • Oil or butter for frying.


  1. You will need a stand up mixer for these with a bread paddle on.
  2. In the mixing bowl add the flour, xanthan gum, salt, cream of tartar, garlic and yeast and give it a whizz with the paddle.
  3. Add the yogurt, butter, egg and egg white and the water and and set your mixer away.
  4. Add the coriander and mix for 5 minutes until the dough is a ball
  5. Place into a greased bowl and cover with cling film and place in a warm place for 2 hours.
  6. On a floured surface cut the ball into 8 or 4 depends on the size you want, roll out so its flat
  7. Heat the oiled in a heavy based frying pan.
  8. Fry for 3 minutes one side then flip over and fry the other side for the same.
  9. Repeat with the rest.
  10. Eat hot or can be warmed up in the microwave for a few minutes.
